🇵🇪 Ceviche
A bright and refreshing Peruvian dish made with fresh fish cured in lime juice, tossed with onion, tomato, cucumber, and cilantro.
🧄 Ingredients
- 1 lb fresh ocean fish (sea bass, snapper, or mahi-mahi), diced
- ½ red onion, thinly sliced
- ¾ cup fresh lime juice (about 6 limes)
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1 jalapeño or serrano chili, finely chopped
- 1 cup diced cucumber
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- ¼ cup chopped cilantro
- 1 tbsp olive oil (optional)
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Optional: diced avocado
👨🍳 Instructions
- Place onion in a bowl with lime juice, salt, and pepper. Let sit 5 minutes.
- Add fish, garlic, and chili. Toss gently to coat.
- Stir in cucumber, tomato, cilantro, and olive oil. Marinate in fridge for 45–60 minutes.
- Before serving, taste and adjust seasoning. Fold in avocado if using.
- Serve chilled with tortilla chips, lettuce cups, or tostadas.
💡 Tips
- Use sashimi-grade fish for safety and best texture.
- Marinate longer for firmer, more “cooked” fish.
- Serve in shot glasses or coconut shells for a fun twist.
