A bright and refreshing Peruvian dish made with fresh fish cured in lime juice, tossed with onion, tomato, cucumber, and cilantro.

  1. Place onion in a bowl with lime juice, salt, and pepper. Let sit 5 minutes.
  2. Add fish, garlic, and chili. Toss gently to coat.
  3. Stir in cucumber, tomato, cilantro, and olive oil. Marinate in fridge for 45–60 minutes.
  4. Before serving, taste and adjust seasoning. Fold in avocado if using.
  5. Serve chilled with tortilla chips, lettuce cups, or tostadas.
