Elbow pasta baked in a creamy cheddar sauce with a golden crust. The ultimate comfort dish from North America.
🧄 Ingredients
- 350g elbow macaroni
- 2 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp flour
- 500ml whole milk
- 250g cheddar cheese, grated
- 50g parmesan, grated
- 1 tsp mustard powder
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Optional: breadcrumbs for topping
👨🍳 Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (180°C fan). Cook pasta 2 minutes less than package instructions.
- Melt butter, stir in flour and mustard powder. Cook 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk. Simmer until thickened.
- Remove from heat, stir in cheddar and half the parmesan.
- Mix pasta into sauce. Transfer to baking dish.
- Top with breadcrumbs and remaining parmesan. Bake 20 minutes until golden.
